Connah & Donna - Clandeboye Lodge Hotel - Bangor, Northern Ireland
“Having a wedding video is a last minute decision for the two of us”.
That’s often the case…but Connah and Donna booked me the week before their wedding!
Sometimes it’s just the fact that there’s a little money left over in the wedding budget, and a couple decide that they can afford to book me.
The wedding plans for this couple evolved from a city registry office ceremony with a long honeymoon, to a bigger day in the Clandeboye Lodge Hotel, just outside of Bangor, Northern Ireland.
Together for over 10 years having met when Connah couldn’t finish a cycling event (Donna was part of the support staff), Connah and Donna wanted an intimate wedding, and the Clandeboye Lodge was the perfect place for them. Their upstairs ceremony room held their humanist celebration perfectly, and the hotel boasts not only amazing food for the dinner reception, but a fantastic outdoor area for guests to enjoy what was great weather on the day.
Connah chose 2 groomsmen and his best man gave what can only be described as the edgiest, and funniest speech that I’ve ever heard. He really knocked it out of the park!
Both the bride and groom got ready at their family homes and spent the night in the honeymoon suite.
The couple were up for anything. The photographer (Ian Irwinn) and I were able to whisk them away to the hotel’s grounds for some intimate portrait shots which turned out really well in the afternoon sunlight.
The ceremony, drinks reception, and dinner were all in the one place, which is always handy for guests and vendors, with a night time disco getting everyone up on the dancefloor to throw some shapes!
Around midday it started to rain, but thankfully after family shots and portraits of the couples.
When I showed the couple their wedding video they were both in tears. “We’re so happy that we went with you for video, you filmed such intimate moments that we can’t recall from the day but we have them forever now”.
