Behind The Scenes of a Northern Ireland Wedding Videographer
Before your Wedding Videographer in Northern Ireland turns their camera on!
Preparing for a wedding video involves much more than just charging camera gear. In fact, a wedding videographer spends a considerable amount of time preparing for each wedding video to ensure that everything runs smoothly and the final product is of high quality.
In this blog post, I will explore the preparation that a videographer does before producing each wedding video.
Meeting with the Bride and Groom: A videographer will usually meet with the bride and groom before the wedding day to discuss their vision for the wedding video. They will ask questions about the couple's preferences and any particular moments they want to be captured.
This meeting is crucial to ensure that the videographer understands what the couple is looking for in the final product.
Location Scouting: Before the wedding day, the videographer may also visit the wedding venue to scout the location.
This allows them to familiarize themselves with the layout, lighting, and any potential challenges they may face on the day of the wedding.
Preparing Camera Gear: A wedding videographer will also spend time preparing their camera gear.
This includes charging all camera batteries, ensuring that all lenses are clean and in good condition, and packing all necessary accessories, such as tripods and microphones, and formatting SD cards so that there's enough memory for your wedding videos.
They will also have backup gear on hand, just in case something goes wrong with the primary equipment.
Preparing Backup Storage: In addition to camera gear, a wedding videographer will also prepare backup storage solutions for the footage they will capture.
This may include additional memory cards, hard drives, or cloud storage options to ensure that all footage is securely backed up.
Planning the Shot List: Finally, a wedding videographer will spend time planning the shot list.
This involves creating a list of all the essential shots that need to be captured, such as the first kiss, the first dance, and speeches, and it’s something I go into detail more on my post: What it’s like to work as a Northern Ireland Wedding Videographer.
They will also consider any creative shots that they want to capture to make the final product unique and special.
I’ve written before about what it’s like in the day of a Northern Ireland Wedding Videographer. The preparation before each wedding day is crucial to ensuring that the final product is of high quality and meets the couple's expectations when recording their special memories.
This includes meeting with the bride and groom to discuss their vision, location scouting, preparing camera gear and backup storage, and planning a first class shot list.
By taking the time to prepare films, a wedding videographer can capture all the special moments and memories of the wedding day on film, creating a beautiful and lasting memento for the couple.
Personally, I want to meet each and every bride and groom that I'm going to provide a wedding video. I need to get a feel for who they are as a person - and what this means to my final wedding video.
The final edit and finished product doesn't start on your day. It starts with me taking a look at your social media - do you like to travel? Do you have children and is family everything? Or do you enjoy a life where you just appreciate the intimacy of one another and how can this be included in your wedding video.
The connection with my wedding couples is paramount for me to provide each on with the best possible wedding video.
Often when I'm travelling around Northern Ireland I'll stop by certain venues just on the off-chance that I'll take a booking there!
Compared to other wedding videographers in Northern Ireland I carry more kit than most. I control my lighting and sound to get the perfect wedding video.
This means I need to be on the ball with details of exactly where each bride and groom will be on the day - and that information is key to running my day perfectly, and it’s something I go into more detail in my post about the challenges and rewards of being a Northern Ireland Wedding Videographer.

What a wedding videographer does on your day
As I mentioned in my post: A Sneak Peek Into The World of a Northern Ireland Wedding Videographer, a videographer is an essential part of your wedding, to capture your special memories.
They are responsible for capturing all the special moments and memories of your big day on film, so that you can relive them for years to come. In this blog post, we will explore what a wedding videographer does at your wedding.
Capturing Pre-Wedding Moments: A wedding videographer usually starts filming early on the day of the wedding.
They capture the pre-wedding moments such as the bride and groom getting ready, the wedding party interacting, and the arrival of guests.
Filming the Ceremony: The wedding videographer's primary responsibility is to film the ceremony.
They will capture the exchange of vows, the exchange of rings, and the first kiss. They will also capture the reactions of the guests and the couple during the ceremony.
Filming the Reception: The wedding videographer also captures the reception.
They film the couple's entrance, the first dance, speeches, and other special moments such as cutting the cake and throwing the bouquet.
Interviewing Guests: The wedding videographer may also interview some of the guests to capture their thoughts and emotions about the couple and the big day.
This is something that I do sporadically if the day allows me to, and the guests are great fun and up for a laugh!
Editing the Footage: After the wedding, the wedding videographer spends a significant amount of time editing the footage.
They will select the best shots, add music, and create a final video that tells the story of the couple's wedding. This is something that I talk more about in my post: The secret life of a Northern Ireland Wedding Videographer.
Delivering the Final Video: As I mentioned in the creative process of a Northern Ireland Wedding Videographer, once the editing is complete, the wedding videographer delivers the final video to the couple.
This can be in the form of a digital file, or an online streaming link.
A wedding videographer plays a crucial role in capturing the memories of your wedding day.
They film the pre-wedding moments, the ceremony, and the reception.
They also interview guests and spend time editing the footage to create a final video that tells the story of the couple's wedding day.
If you want to relive the special moments of your wedding day for years to come, hiring a wedding videographer is an excellent investment.

How I work on the day
During my first few meetings with you, I'll have discussed what kind of style you like. If you want to know more about what it’s like behind the scenes, be sure to check out my blog post here.
Do you want the more fun wedding video? Then I might have to stay longer than normal (most venues across Northern Ireland are close to Belfast, where I live, so the journey back doesn't bother me!).
Wedding videos are as unique as your most special day. My job is to provide the best service possible so that you relive your wonderful day every time you watch your wedding video.
Each sentimental moment gets watched and filmed. It's my job not to have a single special moment missed, especially the ones full of joy as you celebrate an incredible lifetime occasion.
Want more sentiment that includes your family?
Then I'll make sure that your wedding video captures key members on video - you're often very busy on the day and only by watching back your video of getting married will you see what a lovely and amazing time everyone was having (this is usually where I get the most pleasure!). This is something I’ve talked about before when it comes to uncovering the magic of your wedding video.

Why Hannah Jane?
Not only is she one of the most personable photographers I’ve had the pleasure of working with, but she constantly goes that extra mile for her wedding couples, making sure that they get the best possible service imaginable. Oh yes, and her images of weddings are absolutely stunning!
Take a look at her work here and be sure to take a look at her wedding packages.
Additional extras, in terms of 'a la carte' include a stay at Loughmourne Glamping pod (which I own) for you to stay and view your wedding video for the first time!
Some videographers don't put prices of wedding videos on their website. I guess this is to get you through the door so that you make a more formal inquiry.
Personally I'd rather a person know ball-park figures as to how much I cost before they get in touch.
This way, my prices aren't a shock!
The cost of a wedding videographer Northern Ireland
The cost of a wedding videographer in Northern Ireland can vary depending on several factors such as experience, duration of coverage, type of video package, and location of the wedding. It’s something I’ve covered before in my post: what goes into creating a wedding video.
On average, you can expect to pay anywhere from £1,000 to £4000 for a professional wedding videographer in Northern Ireland.
The price for a basic package typically starts at around £1,000 and includes coverage of the ceremony and reception, a highlight reel, and a digital copy of the final video.
Other packages may include more comprehensive coverage, additional videographers, drone footage, and same-day editing, which can increase the cost.
It is important to compare the different videographers and packages available to find one that fits your budget and meets your specific needs, and it’s something that I’ve talked about more in my post: The Art and Science of Northern Ireland Wedding Videography.
While price is a crucial factor, it is also important to consider the quality and style of the videographer's work, as well as their professionalism and reliability.
Some videographers may also offer discounts or special rates for off-season weddings, weekday weddings, or shorter coverage times. Be sure to inquire about any specials or discounts that may be available to you when you are looking for a wedding videographer in Northern Ireland.
Overall, investing in a professional wedding videographer is a worthwhile expense as it provides a beautiful and lasting record of your special day that you can cherish for years to come.
