Wedding Venue for Videography - Beech Hill House, Londonderry, Northern Ireland

Is Beech Hill House (Londonderry) the best countryside Wedding Venue for Videography in Northern Ireland?

Beech Hill House, Londonderry, is what I’m calling ‘the new kid on the block’ as far as wedding venues go. It’s as if the place was designed for wedding videography in the way it flows and works as a venue.

Here’s my breakdown of the one wedding venue that has really captured my attention lately.

The Essentials

Just a 12 minute drive from Londonderry, Beech Hill House is nicely placed in the countryside just outside of Ardmore.

It’s fairly easily accessible off of the A6 main road – giving it appeal for wedding couples from the other side of Northern Ireland to Belfast who don’t want their guests (or themselves) to travel too far. Here’s a video from one of my visits to Beech Hill Country House, Londonderry for a wedding video.

It’s a country manor house from the 1600's - so brides and grooms wanting that historic feel need to look no further. With 27 rooms, wedding couples are encouraged to stay the night before and make the most of waking up in the venue.

Ceremonies can be held in their purposely furbished Georgian room, or for religious ceremonies you can look to Ardmore parish church just outside of the venue, or further afield wherever you choose.

It has ample space for up to 250 guests.

The Forest ceremonies are it’s flagship offering, with drinks reception overlooking the lake, followed by evening celebrations in the garden pavilion.

The whole venue prides itself in being solely used for weddings – meaning that the staff and facilities are adept at dealing with wedding parties and the challenges that running a big day can bring.

I’ve personally met Adam, the owner, and can attest to how passionate he and his team are when it comes to weddings.

When it comes to video, not only can I film the spectacular house, but I honestly think that whoever designed and built Beech Hill House was a wedding videographer who wanted to put Northern Ireland on the map.

The whole venue has that classical feel of grandeur.

I can take my time moving around their forest ceremonies, capturing various angles for the perfect edit. I tend to keep my wedding couples in the woodland before venturing to the secret garden and lake for more video shots.

I can venture inside for the drinks reception to see your wedding guests having a great time catching up with each other, and the garden pavilion is spacious with a large dance floor for me to co-ordinate my video lights and plug in my audio equipment into their up to date PA system for crisp and clear audio recordings as part of my edit overlay.

It’s easily one of my favourite locations to video weddings in Northern Ireland.

The setting provides a perfect backdrop for wedding couples to dress however they choose. Whereas venues such as the Rabbit Hotel have brown and green tones, Beech Hill House is more of a classical blank canvas.

As a wedding vendor, I often get a great insight into how helpful the staff are when catering to the needs of both vendors and wedding guests. I like to go further than other wedding videographers when I setup scenes and need some help from the staff, it’s always the managers or planners that I ask for help.

I can honestly say that the staff at Beech Hill House would do anything for me to make my job easier.

This means I get to set and capture the best shots possible- whether it’s moving furniture before the bride and groom come into a room so that the natural light falls better, or arranging garden furniture for leading lines for that perfect shot – the staff are always on hand to help me out.
